Deputy PM sees Russia’s grain harvest at 200 mln tns per year

DAVOS, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- Russia is able to raise its grain harvest to 200 million tonnes per year with the help of modern technologies, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters late on Thursday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

“The potential for production of grains in Russia is still high. We already have more than 130 million tonnes, so we obviously can get 200 with the help of modern technologies,” Dvorkovich said.

“Our grain production has been rising for several consecutive years, we became the world’s largest exporter, and stability of the grain market of the whole world depends on our actions. I think that our grain exports will be very high this agricultural year, and problems with export transportation will be solved.”

In 2017, Russia harvested a record of 134.1 million tonnes of grain.
